It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here. To anyone who may enjoy reading the things that I publish here, sorry. I just haven’t done any “extra” writing. I think this might be bogging me down. Mark my words: “Henceforth, danfugate.com will see frequent updates.” Nevermind, I marked ‘em for you. Rambling, rambling.
To get things going here, I’ll write a bit about the iPad 2.
I waited in lin
e for three and a half hours to get this dang thing. I’d never waited in line for a tech item before, and circumstances were right for me to be able to do it for a shiny new, two-camera havin’ iPad 2. I got off work on Friday, went to my brother-in-law’s house to pick him up, and went to Best Buy. There are some people who would scoff at those who wait hours for the chance to have a new tech device. To them, I say – have you ever waited in line for a ride at a theme park? I happily waited more than an hour for ten minutes in the Haunted Mansion at Disney World. I waited 3 1/2 hours for the iPad 2, and I can potentially enjoy it for over a year. Both are worth every moment in diamonds (how would you even measure that?) but, just by the numbers, the iPad wins.
And, of the winner, it’s a nice device. All of the specs and several people’s tales of touch can be found across the web so, I won’t even mention size or feel here. What I will do is say that I like the 2 just a smidge more than its predecessor. If you’ve ever used FaceTime or Skype with me, then you know how much I like the technology. For the cameras, alone, I like the 2. The app switching is quicker and it feels peppier.
There are two things that I can say that are negative, so far. The photo quality isn’t great. Big whoop! It’s not like I don’t feel ridiculous taking pictures with a shield. The second negative thing is a bit bigger, but I’m not sure if it’s the fault of the tablet or the app. Once, while using GarageBand, the iPad froze up. The screen and buttons were unresponsive. The phunky groove that I was working on was playing loud and clear, though. The only thing that would bring the pad back was the sleep + home button restart. Once I got it restarted, I fired up GarageBand and my groove was gone. Phunk.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the purchase (32GB WiFi only, black). Cases are hard to come by right now. That’s a bummer. I guess that brings the negatives list to three things. Still happy.
