My cousin was hit and killed by a car when he was 12 years old. He had parental supervision and it was one of those accidents that probably could have been avoided but wasn't. He was trying to catch a dog that had gotten loose and wasn't playing in the street. It's a heartbreaking thing for anyone to have to endure. I am impressed with your wife more and more as I hear (well, read) what you have to say about her. I don't know if you're interested (and I swear this isn't shameless self promotion) but I often have people ask me what all happened on this tragic day. Here's a blog I wrote about it. I've never finished the story of it. It's quite painful for me. He contends that in order to be a better writer, you must be a voracious reader. I can't help but disagree (particularly after reading your blog). I admit, I am a big reader. I'd rather read than watch a movie or TV show any day of the week. However, lately I've found myself not reading quite as much. I tend to get overly engrossed in what I'm reading and fear that I may begin to mimic authors when it comes time for me to write because I have been so involved in their writing styles.
